During 2014 Aspiration Facades working with CE delivered two phases of External Wall Insulation for Uttlesford District Council. Phase one included Swiss Timber Frame properties (Non-Traditional) and Phase two conventional solid wall properties.

Each project has it’s own challenges and with this project it was non-traditional properties and regional working. In phase one the team focused on the Swiss Timber frame properties. Our project team, working in conjunction with Weber, completed technical assessments of the properties to ascertain their suitability for the proposed system. With the support of structural engineers we collectively reviewed:

Thermal performance
Damp and condensation issues Structural suitability Mechanical fixing suitability
We successfully developed a technical solution for the properties and installed a system that reduced the U-Value to 0.3, improved the over all aesthetics, significantly improved issues with damp and condensation and reduced maintenance costs.

Phase two was focused around standard solid wall properties however they were situated regionally up to 1 hour apart. This gave our project team some unique logistical and procurement challenges.

We developed a number of systems to manage the regional delivery ensuring our service, tenant management and quality remained the focus of the project. This included localised storage of materials, short dropping materials, mobile welfare and waste management provisions and increased visits from resident liaison.

The project was delivered on time and to budget.
